Where we have been, come from, and where we are heading... All BAD..

The banking system is not lending money because it's still insolvent. The people, having lost over 5 trillion dollars in the real estate bust are also collectively insolvent. Many US states and cities are bankrupt or near bankrupt. One in nine Americans subsist on food stamps. Even as a college education has become unaffordable to most Americans, college graduates now find themselves jobless. One in seven households now have their adult children living back at home due to the inability to find a job. The homeless population is growing and tent cities sprouted up across America during 2009. The estimated homeless population in LA alone is 40,000 people a night. People in the US if they have a job are working longer and harder to make the same income. Wages have remained stagnant and the real cost of living continues to spiral ever higher for ordinary Americans. The new man in charge, elected on a platform of "change", has delivered his change in the form of change=no change, or how do you like your change now?

More evidence that changing parties does not equal change. I voted for Obama, almost believed in him, and all he has done and stood for is expanding the Neo-Con war doctrine, and advancing the Reagan economic policies. Talk about taking the worst of previous administrations and pushing forward....

One of my favorite passages, and personal pet peeves.

By any metric you choose, whether it's the median home costing half the median income even at artificially low interest rates, to the ballooning cost of insurance, healthcare, education or anything else people spend their money on, the US is experiencing a rapid decline in the standard of living for ordinary Americans and an emerging ultra rich ultra powerful shadow oligarch rule amid a generalized and widespread financial and social decay. The US population is becoming a nation of voiceless serfs with fewer and fewer remaining civil and property rights and a rapidly decaying standard of living, the antitheses of everything America is said to represent and strive for.

Walk'n Dead

I expect China to emerge as the dominant economic power in the world and to purchase a large amount of US assets. Somewhere along the line I also expect the Nobel Peace Prize recipient to bomb Iran because he will be ordered to do so by the people who control the money.

I have made this point on other threads...I think people are starting to see it is for real. We were sold to whoever would buy us...and China was there. There is no turning back now because all China has to do is call our debt in. Even if we came up with an industry that would put the US ahead of the game...it would not be funded. We are owned. Our corporations sold us out for their own greed. It would not have been different if McCain had won...I did hope Obama would listen to the American people over the lobbyists but guess he is deaf too. But I also see that the people in power are not the government they are just pawns. I think Bin Laden was a pawn too...they used him to set in motion the handing over of what little power we the people still had. That is why we didn't go after him and protected his family right after the attacks...and why we haven't "found" him. Homeland Security is used against the American people not for the American people...the reality of that will be seen in the coming years.

Can't say that I'm surprised...looking at history, civilizations tend to end this way barring a natural disaster. Why would we believe man's greed and need for control would be held back by a piece of paper (Constitution)? Hasn't world domination been the ultimate goal of many thought history? It was bound to happen.

Then what...exploit it and in the end it will collapse upon itself and the survivors will start it all over again forgetting the lessons of the past as generations go by. It is not sustainable by any means...never has been. But here we go again. I liked how people believed we were different. That we were immune because of the Constitution and free market.

How to turn this around...be kind to your neighbors...give life what you have left. Plant the seed it can be different and show respect for they have not learned, don't let them make you stoop to their level or you just repeat the past. Let others enjoy watching us fall for they are next unless they learn too.

"Our corporations sold us out for their own greed." Both great posts! I would add: our corporations, CEO's includded, unwittingly, sold themselves to Communist China. Then, they sold us the American People, in the same manner as Jacob was sold to Egypt by his own brothers! I lost endless hours, weeks, months, and years writing that exporting know-how for a vague promise of "future markets" was un-Biblical. The Bible clearly demonstrates that this means shedding one's power. What we now see is the result of this shortsightedness, caused by human greed! Remember how Essau sold his birthright for piece of rosted beef? These banana-republic builders, these corporations, sold to China our American birthright!

Yes, Yes, Yes, we need to turn this around though, and we can do it.

A balanced budget constitutional amendment.

A constitutional amendment making corporations not individuals for the purposes of free speech to turn elections back to the people, and not siding with the supreme court ruling of a few weeks ago.

People seem to forget, and politicians seem to forget, Constitutional Amendments are the voice of the people, they make things legal, and they are the real only way to address some of the very real issues that affect us in this modern age with things that the founding fathers could not have foreseen.
